Make an educated decision.
Grants, SBA loans, tax credits, and depreciation can transform the economics of a solar project. Here's the money on the table — and how we help you claim it.
A federal grant of up to 25% of project cost for rural businesses.
The USDA's Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) helps agricultural producers and rural small businesses pay for renewable energy. Under the new rule, REAP grants cover up to 25% of project cost, up to $500,000 for a renewable energy system.
We check whether your business and your system fit the program and help you pull the project records together.
1 · Eligibility check
We check whether your business is in a rural area and whether your system's completion date fits the new window.
2 · Cost reduction
Under the new rule a REAP award can cover up to 25% of project cost, making solar more affordable for ag businesses and rural communities.
3 · Project records
We help you pull together the records the program asks for, like 12 months of production data and your pre-install utility bills.
4 · Customized solutions
Every project is unique. We look at your system, your bills and your site, and tell you plainly which incentives fit.
5 · Long-term savings
Substantial savings from day one, plus decades of clean, renewable energy and added property value.
Solar for new hotels built with SBA loans.
Most of our SBA work is with hotel owners and developers building a new hotel with an SBA 504 loan. We come in at the planning stage, while the hotel is still on the blueprints, so the solar fits the roof, the plans and the budget from day one. We work on hotel projects in every state.
Under the SBA 504 program, solar equipment owned by the borrower can be included in the project cost. Hotels and motels are special-purpose properties under SBA rules, so the borrower puts in at least 15% (at least 20% for a new business). In California, the Energy Code requires new hotels and motels with six or more guest rooms to include solar and a battery system, with a few exceptions. Other states and cities set their own rules.
Planned with your architect
We work with your architect and engineer while the plans are still open: roof layout, equipment space and the electrical design, so the solar is not bolted on after the roof is finished.
Sized to the code and the loan
Where the local code requires solar, as California's does, we size it to the code. 504 projects that meet SBA's energy goals can go up to $5.5 million instead of $5 million, and we produce the energy model and offset report your lender needs for that.
Competitive bids, any state
We put the solar out to multiple licensed contractors in your state and hand you the bids unedited, then calculate total costs, savings and ROI so the project pencils out.
